mrs newtons,overhaddon

my first ever ride in the mid 70s was a meet at beaucheif hotel and a ride out to mrs newtons tea room at over haddon,a shed in her side garden that you could eat your own sandwiches on long benches ,a parrafin stove for heat, and a continual flow in and out of cyclists and walkers, alan kirk was leader of the easy riders back then with ken croggon assisting him, usualy riding as back man encouraging straglers not to be down hearted, occationaly pushing the weaker riders up hill so as they didnt fall to far behind, many happy days were to follow through to the mid 80s when having a young family and been made redundant from ARTHUR LEE and sons, ment i went lorry driving and this put paid to my sunday cycling
